beneath (2013 ending explained)

It's a low budget but definitely intense film which actually manages to be frightening in places, adopting the same kind of lo-fi approach as Neil Marshall's THE DESCENT, which was the superior film of the two. To the people that poo-poo on the "inspired by actual events": That is way different than "Based on a true story". Worse yet, there's something else in there. – but while a film like The Amityville Horror benefited from the claim because its veracity was difficult to confirm back in the pre-internet days of 1979 the truth behind today’s movies can be ascertained with a few clicks of a mouse. Apostle's ending is not for the faint of heart - and it's even darker after we've explained it. I was very impressed by everyone, but especially Lauren Gores. Booogie Boogie Boogie!!! Beneath is the story of a group of miners who get into trouble after a cave-in traps them hundreds of feet underground. The god in the barn is administered to by a creature called the Grinder, whose face is covered by a wicker helmet. She’s no Ripley (from Alien), but her journey from whiny and useless to someone far more proactive is presented in interesting ways. Only torches coming for your help to display expression on the faces of each character. Events tease the possibility of both supernatural shenanigans and a more straightforward psychopath as the culprit behind the multiple deaths, and both options feel fleshed out enough to justify the proceedings. Take My Bloody Valentine (1981) for instance, it was filmed in a real coal mine. Normally in movies that are "Inspired on True Events" there is a prologue explaining what really happened. They deliver some genuine chills alongside a handful of wonderfully claustrophobic sequences, and the result is a film that scares and keeps viewers on their toes. This doesn't mix too well with often entirely to shaky footage when you can see. Coal mines are eerie enough on their own, but then you get horror films involved with them? 15 years after being incarcerated for attempting to murder four boys, a deranged psychopath escapes prison to seek revenge on the victims th A likable bunch of hardworking hard drinking miners, are accompanied by their manager's daughter, on his last day before retirement, who wants to see where daddy works before she loses the chance. Throughout Apostle, paintings show the god being worshipped atop a fire and given sacrificial offerings in exchange for bountiful harvests, but the three men perverted this ritual by keeping the god a prisoner and force-feeding her with a funnel, essentially treating her like a "machine." I really enjoyed this movie for what it was. This major distraction is unbearable at some parts and takes away greatly from what could've been a good flick. There have been plenty of cave-ins and plenty of miners dead and some where miners survive. Although the beginning may be slow at times, this movie is a slow burn of terror. Sure., it's a zombie movie, but even in bad zombie movies they have some sort of explanation for the zombies.... My quick rating 4,9/10. At the beginning of the movie it says "In 2013, a collapse at Bracket Coal mine left a group of workers trapped nearly six hundred feet underground". A couple of the guys say it’s bad luck for a woman to enter the mine, but they’re overruled and the team descends the hundreds of feet to the tunnel system they’re currently working. What is the point of prefacing your horror film with text stating that it’s based on a true story? So much better than expected, cause lets face it, we have a horror about a group of miners that get trapped under some rocks and when the terror stars no monsters are involved.
