He was played as arrogant, self-involved, totally insensitive to his offensive behavior. In this, the beginning of season 4, Lynley is trying to get Helen to talk to him. I have really enjoyed this series. The understated emotions between Lynley and Havers - all credit to the scriptwriter, director and of course the actors Nathanial Parker and Sharon Small. Long distance, of course. Actually I’d quite like to do telly there! Is The Inspector Lynley Mysteries renewed or cancelled? That’s why I’m pained to write about the show’s final season, which begins airing on Masterpiece Mystery! Lesley at least was sexy and and you wanted her in. The shame is that they were cancelled before being allowed to have one wrap-up episode. Absolutely adore it. User Ratings B&B: Rawdon Crawley had a comic edge in Vanity Fair…NP: Oh, Rawdon, yes. The premiere commences just months after the shooting death of Lynley’s wife Helen, and features the Inspector being arrested for murdering a fling while investigating the disappearance of his godson (said fling was the kid’s older sister). It’s all talk, but it’s very, very, very goodwriting. Then I think about two different actresses that play Helen. I was justastounding at how brilliant they were. I think do we tend to do them quite well. But the thoughtful ones are the ones I like, the really quite clevermysteries. B&B: Colin Firth’s brother, Jonathan, was also in that episodeNP: Oh God, that’s right! Lynley is suspended (I can't recall why) but is still "around" on the outskirts in a vague sort of way (won't go into too much detail to avoid spoilers). You know, if you trytake on a big Shakespearean role, which I’ve done in the past and loveddoing, you know they’re always saying, “Well, of course, so and so didit so much better in 1943.” And you’re going, “Oh, bloody hell! | In comparison, Lynley's problems are more social, as he frequently moralizes over dilemmas in his love life. I know! They canceled the series after wefinished shooting, so there is no tie-up to it. And I did actually slightly get up for the movie. I can’t think of anything else to watch! B&B: I don’t know. this link is to an external site that may or may not meet accessibility guidelines. They replace Helens. One of the best Inspector Lynley episodes ever. And we stumble on thebigger pictures sometimes. Thelovely Elizabeth McGovern. She’s wonderful. The woman is a total mess!! Sorry mystery_perry. The setting was very interesting: I'd like to know what part of England this particular episode was set in..... somewhere along the coast, as it was flat and sandy and a lighthouse featured at one point. Although it’s quite funny, my mum has her gardenopen every year, once a year, and some people came this year forpublicity I was doing for my play, and they come to the garden andsaid, “Are you Inspector Lynley’s mother?” And to my daughter theysaid, Are you one of the Lynleys? It takes liberties with stories, as any script-from-a-book would, but stays close to the characters. I loved it ... until the last ten minutes. I actually was so keen to doit, but unfortunately because of insurance, they only let me sit on thehorse, say the words, and get off again. Therewas a very good production here with an American in it, actually. B&B: You had a rugby episode of Lynley if I recall?NP: A rugby episode? Both girls. Bits & Bobs: The Lynley finale has already aired in Britain, correct? I wish I had my kids with me,they could tell me. Havers wrong also. I was very keen on Lynleythat we never cheated, which is difficult to do. I bought the entire series on DVD and overall it's a worthwhile show. 6): Nathaniel Parker (aka Inspector Lynley) checks out... and in. Inspector Lynley is maybe posh, as The Guardian said, since he is a Lord by birth and practices policework as a profession, one of these few professions a hereditary lord can practice. The mysteries are tricky and intricate and at times perverse and bleak. I have not read any of the books so I cannot comment on how true it is to them and really do not care. I love Inspector Lynley (Nathaniel Parker). He treats he like a char lady and she acts like one too. I think England, or Britainrather, gets it right when we do it quite small. I wish he’d turned into a director years before that. I love the pace thatgood television can engender, when you really get to work fast! Stories were ok . She gets In the way and contributes zilch. Four British detective-type series from the noughties stand out...Inspector Lynley, Rosemary and Thyme, The Last Detective, and Judge John Deed. At the beginning I was wondering why the Doctor wanted to take charge of the child so persistently, but it was pushed to back of my mind until the "real father" business came up. Nathaniel Parker is good as the aristocratic Lynley and Sharon Small is cute and tough as Havers. Still, the rich detective and the hardscrabble sergeant work well with one another while solving cases that are twisty and intelligent. And so verykeen into that. Totally unreal. My God, you’ve got a good memory! To make matters worse they draw Lynley in to an attraction that doesn't last with Caroline Miller (Matilda Ziegler) who's quite attractive and again, a character you could see in the series. I actually thought the script was pretty good and it was clever in that it combined the plot of the crime with some of Lynley's personal upheavals. That said I will re-watch the shows. Having seen the television version before reading the books, I can heartily recommend the video version over the print one. I tell you,I’m quite a sports fan.
